As four-wheel-drive specialists, Land Rover has created a brand that many associate as being the best at venturing off-road. It started as early as 1947 when Maurice Wilks and his brother, Spencer, created the Series 1 Land Rover in Britain. Over the years, the company changed hands many times with it most recently being owned by Ford (from 2006 - 2008) and now sitting in the Tata Motors stable under the Jaguar Land Rover umbrella.

The company has been synonymous with building rough and tough off-road vehicles such as the Discovery and Range Rover but has also in more recent times created some of the most desirable luxury SUVs. Examples of these include the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Velar.

The off-road prowess of the brand, its military history and, more recently, its ability to merge comfort, style and luxury in an SUV has made Land Rover an iconic and much-desired brand around the globe.
