Losing Chevrolet South Africa hurt. It is a brand beloved by so many in Mzansi, a badge that has adorned (many Opels, if we’re honest) 4100s, Asconas, Commodores, El Caminos and Kommandos – and that’s just from our local past. Internationally the bow tie has perched on infamous muscle cars such as the Camaro, Nova and Chevelle. More recently it would enjoy a resurgence in Mzansi with popular models like the Cruze, Lumina Sedan and Ute and Corsa Bakkie. 

Sure, it went through a Korean phase, but the Aveo, Sonic and Spark would grow in popularity with young and old buyers alike. In South Africa General Motors may well survive on in the shape of Isuzu and Opel, but Chevy was the soul that kept the marque blazing. But it isn’t all bad news, GM will still service your Chevrolet and a quick search on our sales pages will reveal some incredible machinery such as the Chevrolet Captiva, Trail Blazer and Orlando. Chevrolet is dead, long live second-hand Chevrolets.
