How to read advertisements for used car deals
When browsing used car deals you may notice that these advertisements, whether print or online, all follow a specific format when displaying the specifications of the car for sale. Below is a helpful guide on what these acronyms stand for.
FSH: Full Service History. It means that the vehicle has been regularly maintained by manufacturer’s specifications and comes with a full service history manual so that the next owner will be able to see what has been repaired on the car.
PS: Power Steering or Power-Assisted Steering. Power Steering assists the driver when steering a vehicle by directing some of the power through the wheels and thus making steering effortless.
PW/EW: Power-operated Windows or Electric Windows. These types of windows can be operated by a button on the side of the door. The button is used to replace the traditional window winder, to open or close windows.
CL: Central Locking. This is a remote feature that lets the driver lock and unlock the vehicle doors by the push of a button from the master key.
21 059km: The 21 059km is an example of what you may come across when browsing through used car deals. The number in front of the “km” indicates the total mileage of the vehicle. It is the total amount of kilometers that the vehicle has driven, and it is found on the odometer reading on the vehicle’s dashboard. A used car with a low mileage reading is usually preferable.
A/C: This indicates the vehicle is fitted with an Air Conditioning system (A/C)
Alloys: Alloys refers to the alloy wheels or aluminium wheels on the vehicle. Alloys are generally more expensive than hubcaps or steel wheels.
